Sue Clark about header.jpg

Sue Clark

Sue Clark is a visual artist who graduated from UNISA in 2022 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Multimedia (cum laude). Sue is a qualified architect who lives and works in Tshwane with her family. After 25 years in architectural practice, she has changed her focus to visual arts.

Much of her work revolves around the built environment of local cities and how they are evolving. Through this work she hopes to encourage people to engage with the cities they live in and contribute to their evolution positively as opposed to being consumed by pessimism and defeatism.

Another area of interest is the human body. Through life drawing, anatomy, body types, aging, and the effects of life generally are rigorously investigated and lessons applied to all other works.

Sue works in a wide range of media from drawing, mixed media, textiles, sculpture, installation works (light and sound), digital and any other techniques that inform and contribute to the work at hand.

Her most recent projects include a public statue for UNISA’s Artwalk competition on their Florida Campus as well as being the first prize winner of the 2022 Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards and her first solo exhibition 2024, “Frayed Edges: Imiphetho Ephukile ” in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
